Board Meeting Change
Lester has requested that the board meetings to be on the first Monday of the month instead of the second Monday. The purpose of the change is to eliminate those weeks where the Board & Business meeting were in the same week. Another note, the September board meeting will be on Tuesday do to Monday being Labor Day. Please make a note of the change and add to your calendars.
Home
We have a home!!!! The location is at the Rio Grande Depot two doors up from Train Showcase. We will be going back to the old schedule of Tuesday evening – Work session, Friday evening – Running trains and minor work sessions, Saturday Mornings – running trains. We are still working on a layout design so in the mean time we can repair stored modules and see if we can utilize any of them. We start paying rent in August. Some club members moved some of the modules that were in storage to the room on Saturday July 28. Friday August 3 will be a work session. Bring soldering irons and other tools, as we will finish wiring the yards and repair wiring to modules we can use. Bring your tools as well so we can perform other work as needed. Mike will bring in an unfinished corner module and two unfinished 2’X4’ modules. These modules are for sale for anyone who wants them, see Mike. We need someone to build one more 2’X4’ module and 2 corner modules. This will complete a 12’X12’ temporary layout to get started.
We are looking to build a larger layout in the future. This will require building at least 4 special modules. Talk to Lester or Mike to get the design of these modules.
Camping Trip
Chris reported that the well water did not pass the inspection so bring enough drinking water for the weekend. The Duecker’s are bring 10 gallons with them.
Chris stated at the business meeting that we should try and do three separate excursions. The 1st would be to go the museum in Westcliffe. Then drive north out of town following the grade towards DeWeese Reservoir. The 2nd excursion would be to drive down a very rough 3.5-mile section of BLM road to Grape Creek to an old railroad town. He recommended high clearance vehicles only for this trip. The third excursion is to drive to Temple Canyon Park; here you can walk the grade both up and downstream.
